Life before Gold - what were you up to?
"My working life began in newspapers and magazines.  Working on car trade titles at Haymarket Publishing then I spent a year as a financial journalist.  I realised I wasn't cut out for business journalism when I fell asleep whilst interviewing someone about pensions.  I blame London Pride!

"Tabloid newspapers called and I worked my way across various diary columns including The Sun, Daily Mail and Today. However all the time my real dream was to work on radio. My journey began at Bromley Hospital radio then to Chiltern Radio, and GWR FM in Bristol.  Ten years ago I moved to London and fulfilled a childhood ambition to work for Capital Radio where I worked for 10 years - I'm delighted to still do a show there every Sunday morning."

"John."

"'Who Let The Dogs Out' - my kids play it all the time!"

I hate to ask...but whose autograph did you insist on getting?
"Don't really collect them but the answer is S Club 7 - it was for a friend's kids."

Many wouldn't believe you but what's the most surreal moment you've had with a household name?
"Standing beside Chris Tarrant at a urinal at Heathrow Airport and watching some bloke checking to see how he measured up so to speak!"

Size matters - who was surprisingly taller / shorter than you expected?
"I knew he was tall but Stephen Fry was even taller than expected."

Which song do you wish you'd written?
"You Make Me Feel So Young"

Which song sums up your journey so far?
"Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen"

"With a piece of cake and party bag."

"Totally depends on my mood."

"Promised I would never say!"

"Under the world's lightest duvet with the world's most beautiful woman - my wife Sam.  She'll love that!"

"Wish I knew everything at 20 I now know at 40."

A day at the races or a night at the opera?
"Can't one follow the other please?"

The invite says fancy dress, who are you going as?
"The Cadbury's Gorilla...along with my Phil Collins CD."
